INAUGRAL BIRDING EXPERIENCE
Join the Freycinet Experience Walk in rediscovering the Peninsula on our inaugural birding experience. Our luxury birding highlights of the Freycinet Peninsula tour, guides guests through pelagic, woodland, lagoon and coastal habitat in the search for rare, endemic and migratory species. Our birding experience will begin with a boating tour to the southern tip of Schouten Island in search of the Shy Albatross, White-bellied Sea Eagles, Peregrines, and Short-Tailed Shearwaters, to name but a few of our in flight and feeding pelagic finds. The days to follow will see you on a walking tour of the Internationally significant RAMSAR site, Moulting Lagoon, and, of course, the stunning Wineglass Bay and Hazards Mountain Range, home to Yellow-throated and Black-headed Honeyeaters, Green Rosellas, Swift Parrots, Spotted Quail Thrush, Yellow Wattle Birds, Scrub Wrens, Dusky Robins, Tasmanian Thornbills, alongside Australian favourites, the Superb Fairy Wren, and Scarlet and Flame Robins. Spend your final day in paradise exploring our very own Friendly Beaches and Saltwater Lagoon property tracking endemic mammals and sighting coastal species such as the threatened Hooded Plover and well-loved Crested Turns.
A highlight of our time together will be moments spent on the shores of Moulting Lagoon in pursuit of migratory Red Necked Stints, Golden Plovers, Eastern Curlews, Sharp-tailed Sand Pipers, Greenshanks, Red Knots and one of the world's highest concentrations of Black Swans. Our specialist birding guides are local twitchers, well versed in coastal and woodland exploration, and never cease to enjoy the thrill of a find. Bring your camera (and binos if you have a favourite pair), and let us take care of the rest!
Slow down, check out and let our knowledgeable guides lead you through a Freycinet Birding Experience to remember.
